Public Service Announcement: Delinquent Property Tax Text Notifications

Beginning mid-March 2026, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP (LGBS) will launch a new text-message notification program to assist in collecting delinquent property taxes.

Please note that the Jackson County Tax Office does not contract with LGBS for collection services. Instead, LGBS is contracted directly by the taxing jurisdictions— including the City, County, School Districts, and Hospital District—to handle delinquent accounts.

How to Identify a Legitimate Text from LGBS To help residents recognize authentic communications, official Linebarger texts will always include:

• Your full name

• A specific account reference number

• A call-back number

• A link to Disclosures and Frequently Asked Questions

• A secure payment website link Official Sending Number All legitimate messages will come from the official LGBS short code 98023. This short code will also be listed on the Jackson County Tax Office website at www.jacksoncountytax. com.

Official Branding Authentic messages will display the Linebarger “L” logo for verification. See example below.

Be Aware of Scams Scammers often spoof short codes or send messages from regular phone numbers. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and verify any unexpected communication.
