Many Jackson County residents found themselves unable to make calls on Friday, February 20, after an AT&T fiber optic line was cut.
Wireless service through multiple carriers was affected, as well as some landlines. 911 calls were also inpacted, according to an announcement by Jackson County Judge Jill Sklar.
“If you need to call 911, please be patient call routing may take longer than usual,” she said in a Facebook post on Friday.
Many AT&T customers received a message that their accounts would be credited to allow for the disruption in service.
“While we work to restore service, we’re also recording the downtime so we can automatically credit your account,” the message said.
Residents across the county reported being unable to make calls or send text messages into the evening on Friday By Friday night, all service had been restored.
