O’Connor sentenced to probation

Former Edna ISD teacher and coach Logan Allen O’Connor reached a plea agreement on Thursday, February 12, in front of District Judge Stephen Williams.

In September of 2024, O’Connor was charged with three felonies. On February 12, O’Connor pleaded guilty to count two - Attempted Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student, a third degree felony. Count one, Online Solicitation of a Minor, a third degree felony, and count three, Sexual Performance of a Child, a second-degree felony, were abandoned.

O’Connor received a probated sentence four years probation, including 350 hours community service, and will be required to pay fines and court costs. Should he violate the terms of his probation, he could be ordered to serve the maximum penalty - 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

He is ordered to surrender his teaching certificate, to have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family, and to stay away from any property owned by Edna ISD or the victim’s family. He will not be allowed to seek early termination of his probation, and waived his right to appeal as part of the deal.

The plea agreement came a day after Edna ISD announced the retirement of O’Connor’s father, Superintendent Robert O’Connor.

Logan O’Connor’s Attorney Brent Dornburg called it a “complicated case” that took a lot of work on both sides.

“Everyone in the DA’s office worked diligently, as did I,” he said.

Dornburg confirmed Attempted Inappropriate Relationship Between Educator and Student is not a sex offender registerable offense.
