Beware of scams!

Beware of scams!

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people “if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” after a deputy recovered a stolen vehicle on February 8.

According to a post on the JCSO Facebook page, a traffic stop by Deputy Jorge Franco revealed a fraudulent license plate on a GMC pickup, which came as a shock to the driver, who had recently purchased the truck for $33,000 in the Dallas area.

The post went on to say that the truck was seized and the driver released when it was found that the driver had been issued a fraudulent title and other paperwork, and the Vehicle Identification Number had been altered.

“Under Sheriff Rick Boone, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, utilizing grant funding through Operation Lone Star, remains dedicated to working alongside our state and federal partners to combat illegal transnational activity, including the identification and interception of stolen vehicles, narcotics, firearms, and currency traveling through Jackson County and along US Highway 59,” the post said.
