The Lavaca-Navidad River Authority will award a total of $15,000 in scholarships to 14 area students for furthering their education. The annual scholarship opportunities are available to Jackson County graduating high school seniors who are planning to enroll in an undergraduate program at a college, university or technical school and/or students who are currently enrolled at one of these institutions.
The Board of Directors has approved thirteen (13) one thousanddollar ($1,000) scholarships and one additional scholarship, the Kay Frels Memorial Scholarship, for two thousand dollars ($2,000) to be awarded. Twelve of the $1,000 scholarships will be divided equally among the three Jackson County school districts and/or areas, making $4,000 available to each district/area. The remaining $1,000 scholarship will be available for a student currently enrolled in college.
Interested students may obtain an application from the LNRA website (www.lnra.org) or by contacting LNRA (361-782-5229). Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2026, in person at LNRA Main Office located at 4631 FM 3131, Edna, Texas 77957 or via mail to LNRA, P.O. Box 429, Edna, Texas 779570429. Selection will be made by April 24, 2026.
