Well-Child exams and vaccinations still remain essential

As families navigate updates in federal healthcare guidance, physicians at Jackson County Medical Clinic have reaffirmed their commitment to following the evidence-based pediatric care published by theAmerican Academy of Pediatrics, and they encourage parents to continue scheduling regular well-child exams and recommended vaccinations. These visits build the foundation of children’s health, development, and long-term well-being.

Well-child exams provide critical opportunities for pediatric and family medicine providers to monitor physical growth, developmental milestones, vision and hearing, emotional wellbeing, and overall health. These visits also allow time for parents and caregivers to ask questions, share concerns, and build trusted relationships with their child’s healthcare provider.

Despite recent changes in federal guidance, vaccines remain one of the most thoroughly studied and closely monitored medical interventions available. Decades of scientific research continue to show that recommended childhood vaccines are safe, effective, and vital in preventing serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses.

“Vaccines have protected generations of children and communities from diseases that could be fatal in certain populations,” said Dr.

Deepinder Judge, pediatrician at Jackson County MedicalClinic of Edna.

“They not only safeguard individual children but also help protect infants, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems who depend on communitywide protection.”

Jackson County Medical Clinic’s healthcare providers met this week, and all have agreed to follow this established clinical evidence and carefully review each child’s medical history to ensure vaccines are administered safely and appropriately.

The providers encourage open communication between themselves and the families they serve in all healthcare decisions.

Informed decisionmaking is essential, and well-child visits create a trusted space where families can feel confident about the care their children receive.Dr.

Judge added, “I encourage parents to stay on schedule with well-child exams and use this built in opportunity to talk with your child’s healthcare provider about recommended vaccinations and preventive care.”
