On Thursday, January 8, Hayden Wayne Morton, charged with Theft of Livestock, a third degree felony, was sentenced to six years Deferred Adjudication.
The sentence, which was part of a plea bargain, also included restitution, community service hours, and restitution.
Morton was 17 in August when he was arrested after an investigation by local law enforcement and the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. At the time of his arrest, Morton was also the subject of a livestock theft investigation in DeWitt County.
Because he was sentenced to deferred adjudication, if Morton completes his six years of probation successfully, he will not have a conviction on his record.
