The Gospel: We Must Trust and Obey
Good news only helps those who respond to it. The Bible makes clear that hearing the gospel is not enough. Even believing it is true is not enough. The gospel calls for a response.
Jesus Himself said that believing in Him means surrendering to Him as Lord.
That involves repentance. This is a genuine change of heart and direction. It also requires trust, loyalty, and gratitude expressed through obedience.
When people in the New Testament heard the gospel, they responded by confessing Jesus as Lord, turning away from sin, and being baptized.
Baptism was not treated as optional or symbolic. It was the moment when God promised forgiveness, new life, and adoption into His family (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3–4).
This response is not a one-time ritual. It marks the beginning of a life shaped by faith, obedience, and growth. God promises to walk with those who remain loyal to Jesus, forgiving them when they stumble and shaping them into His likeness (1 John 1:9; 2 Peter 3:18).
The gospel offers rescue, but it must be received. God has done His part. Now the invitation stands before each of us.
If you have never trusted and obeyed the gospel, what is holding you back? And if you once did, but have drifted, what is keeping you from returning? The good news is still good. And it is still for you.
