The Edna Police Department hired Brandon Johnson, who came from California.

Kalicia Walker, of San Antonio, was charged with manslaughter from a multiple vehicle accident in March of 2025.

Pinky Wade Milby turned 97 years young.

The Ganado Indians 7 on 7 team advanced to the state championship game where they lost to Tidehaven 34-21.

“Treasure Lady” Charlene Tobola and Metal Detectorist Gyspy Jewels hosted a seeded hunt.

A prayer in the park was had for the lives lost in the Hill Country flood.

The Industrial 8-10 softball team won the Section 4 tournament, a 4-3 win over Refugio County, and advanced to the State Tournament.

Rylee Boone and Hayden Hase held a lemonade stand to help support Camp Mystic after the flooding.

David Hawkins was arrested after police responded to a man on Harlem Street wielding a machete.

73 U.M. Army missionaries came to Edna to volunteer and help homeowners who needed help.

Michael Colvin was hired as the Industrial ISD Superintendent of schools.

Gerald Lee Manzanalez Jr. was convicted of attempted sexual assault of a child and attempted indecency with a child and sentenced for 10 years.

Let a Soulshine Foundation gave Trey Ganem $50,000 donation for the caskets he donated to the Hill Country.

The Ganado Townhall Players’ production of Clue: High School Edition was the 27th production by Townhall Players. The show was directed by Robin Donalson and Autumn Aldridge.

The Industrial 8-10 year old little league softball team defeated Washington County 3-1 to win the Texas East State Championship.

Two Edna athletes, Paisley Longoria and Kynlee Revis earned their way on the AAU Jr. Olympic team.

Three Edna FFA members, Morgan DeBord, Kelly Laredo and Austin Sommerfeld earned their Lonestar degrees. Edna FFA was also named in the top 30 chapters for overall sales.

Jan Taylor’s first book, Friday Night Fix Club, hit shelves.

August

Jackson County 4H held their third annual Welcome to 4-H, an open house for families to see if 4-H is for them.

Formosa Plastics Sportsmen’s for Charity Club donated $12,000 to the Edna Little League.

Two Industrial students, Kaylee Cooper and Whitney Kurtz were selected to the All-State Journalism Staff.

Andrew Longoria, of El Campo, was arrested after texting threats to his ex-wife, who lives in Ganado.

September

The first Liz Beth Medina Memorial scholarship was split between all the current 2025-26 cheerleaders.

The Texana Community Education Center hosted their first annual Texana Gator Day.

Congressman Michael Cloud visited the county and recognized Chamber members Hurt’s Wastewater Management and Westhoff Mercantile Co with Congressional Recognition Certificates.

Cheyann Parks earned the FFA American degree, and received it at the National FFA Convention.

Ganado resident and alum Clint Hensley year published a book, Friday Night Warriors, about the Ganado Indians football team over the years.

A proclamation was declared September 10 Donald Janik Appreciation Day. It was made to acknowledge appreciation for all Janik has done for this community over the last 25 plus years working at Brookshire Brothers in Ganado.

Louise resident Levi Koudela was highlighted on two Jumbotrons in New York City as one of many representatives

of the National Down’s Syndrome Society.

Hub in Edna celebrated a successful first year in the county.

October

Rafael Govea Romero accepted plea deals on three charges, regarding the 2023 murder of Lizbeth Medina, and one regarding a previous burglary.

Ganado’s Dr. Yusuke Yahagi was the first person invited by the new Texas A&M University-Victoria science department to give a presentation.

The Texans Museum hired Marty Murray to be its new curator.

Dispatcher Joy Zacek retired after serving over 30 years.

Trevor Floyd was named Mr. Cowboy and Emma Quinonez was name Miss Cowgirl.

Ganado named Mariela Brito Homecoming Queen and Austen Peña Homecoming

King.

Kylee Swoboda and Karli Stanush both hit career milestones in Cobra volleyball play. Swoboda reached 500 digs and Stanush, 1000 kills.

The Edna Theatre lights were reworked after a fire and the sign was re-lit at the street dance during the Texana Fest.

The Golden Cobra Band competed in Regionals and received straight 1’s for their 2025 show, Paris in Motion. Cullen Dyson and Olivia Bowers were voted as 2025 Industrial’s Homecoming King and Queen.

M2 Christmas Tree Farm, located in El Toro, had a grand opening as the first tree farm in the county.

November

Dr. Yusuke Yahagi received a $1,000 scholarship grant from the Ganado Education Foundation and GISD for his biochemistry and physical chemistry research.

State Representative AJ Louderback HD 30 had a grand opening of his State Representative District Office in Victoria.

The Ganado Pride of the Tribe band placed 10th at the State competition.

The Jackson County VOAD received a $10,000 donation to support their operating expenses by the KR & Laura Miller Foundation.

The Edna Cowboys and the Ganado Indians won their football district.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced Formosa Plastics will open a new space in Jackson County, which will create $150 million in capital investments and affect taxpayers.

The county’s historical commission voted for new officers and have big plans for 2026.

December

JC Judge Jill Sklar was recognized by the Texas Association of Counties for her leadership and service as Chair of the board of directors of the County Information Resources Agency.

The Industrial ISD Education Foundation was surprised by HEB Tournament of Champions, with a $10,000 check to support their mission to bring innovative educational opportunities to the Industrial family of schools.

The City of Edna honored a few employees during their Christmas party. John Gonzales and Samantha Idlett celebrated 15 years, and Gary Broz, five years.

The Lavaca-Navidad River Authority announced a longterm road closure on FM 3131 due to construction efforts along Farm to Market Road 3131. The closure will be in effect from January 5, 2026, to January 31, 2027.

Officer Edibrando Martinez was awarded the Life Saving Award during September 2025, by Chief Kenny Pyle.
