The Death Burial and Resurrection
When people hear the word “gospel,” they often think of religion in general or vague spiritual ideas.
But the Bible is remarkably specific. The gospel is not a feeling or philosophy. It is an event.
The apostle Paul summarized it this way: “Christ died for our sins… He was buried… and He was raised on the third day” (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). Remove any part of that message, and the gospel collapses.
Jesus’ death matters because sin brings guilt and separation from God. The Bible teaches that forgiveness requires a life given in place of another. When Jesus died, He offered Himself as that sacrifice, paying a price humanity could not pay on its own.
His burial confirms that He truly died.
Christianity does not rest on wishful thinking or symbolism. It rests on historical claims.
And His resurrection is the heart of the good news. God raised Jesus from the dead, proving that death does not have the final word.
The resurrection declares Jesus to be God’s Son and assures us that forgiveness, hope, and eternal life are real.
Without the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, Christianity is empty. But with them, everything changes.
Guilt can be forgiven.
Life can be renewed.
Death can be defeated.
The gospel announces that God has acted decisively in history to save humanity.
The only question left is whether we will respond to what He has done.
