Jackson County Commissioners and Judge Jill Sklar meet with representative of local and regional agencies and they approved a proclamation that April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.
Industrial High School won the Overall School Sweepstakes title by four points over host Edna at the District 253A UIL Academic Meet. Industrial accumulated 434 points, edging out Edna at 430.
Ganado High School sent five students to compete in the Class 2A, Region 4 UIL Academic Meet.
The Edna ISD board of trustees hired Jamie Dixon as Athletic Director and Head Coach.
JC Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a new 20-year surface lease agreement with Lewis Carancahua Subdivision non-waterfront property owners for access to the pier.
Fourth grade students of the county experienced Ag Day at the Brackenridge Recreation Complex and learned about crops such as cotton, corn, rice, good and bad chemicals, how the bank is involved in agriculture, food and nutrition, 4H and FFA, insects, chickens, reptiles, water, pollution, and beef.
The Region 9 Airstream Club made a stop in the county, and brought 250 Airstream RV owners and lovers to the BRC.

Ganado One Act Play an adaptation of the novelette The Yellow Wallpaper by Kathryn Funkhouser. Directed by Angela Petrash and Melinda Engelmohr, the OAP crew placed third at District, first place at Bi-District, and fifth place at Area.
For the fourth year in a row, Edna FFA was the Gulf Coast District CDE Sweepstakes winner.

State track meet: Cobra Madison Creamer placed 8th pole vaulting, Indian Bryce Ullman also placed 8th, but in the long jump, the Edna relay team finished 5th.
Ramon Palacios pled guilty to the murder of Roseann Martinez, with an affirmative finding of a deadly weapon, a first degree felony, in exchange for a sentence of 50 years.
The Shack Bar & Grill was raided due to a gambling game called the Queen of Hearts, and the jackpot was nearly $255,000.
Cobra Isaiah Reyes became a two-time state champion in UIL Film, with his film, Fade to Black.
The City of Ganado hired Perri Raz as their new city secretary.
Members of the Ganado Law enforcement club took a tour of the JC courthouse.
The Ganado Indian Football Team was honored with a Resolution before the Texas House of Representatives by The Honorable A.J. Louderback for winning their state championship.

Ganado’s Kyla Stancik completed a spear that she drew, cut and welded. It was erected on the Maiden softball field, and the dimensions are 20’-2 1/2 long.

The Ganado Maidens softball team has been advancing quickly, and to the State Semi-Finals, and then to State.
The Ganado Indians baseball team became the Area Champions.
Joe VerVer, better known as Mister Joe, turned 91. He’s a 30year volunteer with the Ganado Volunteer Fire Department, and direct parking during the football games.
Industrial journalists competed at the UIL state academics contest and placed third as a team in the 3A division. Senior Kaylee Cooper won 2nd place in headline writing and 6th place in feature writing, and junior Whitney Kurtz in 2nd place feature writing.

The Ganado Maidens softball team won 2AD1 the State Championship with a score of 5-4 against Riesel.
Ganado lost a beloved leader in the community, Fire Chief Bernard Scott.
Edna’s Hunter Howell was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering.
Jackson County Emergency Management implemented CodeRED, replacing the previous JC mobile app.
The JC Sheriff’s Office and Edna Police searched local smoke shop Blizzy n Blend, confiscating multiple machines they said were used for illegal gambling, as well as what they say are illegal.
Martin Rene Lugo, Jr., of Vanderbilt, was found guilty of three counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer, and was handed three concurrent 99-year sentences.
The Edna Wolves U9 soccer team finished their 2025 season undefeated, and earned backto- back championships in the Victoria Youth Soccer Organization.
