The Gospel: God’s Way of Escape
From the very beginning, the Bible tells a story of loss. Humanity was created for life with God in a world that was “very good.”
But sin shattered that relationship, bringing pain, separation, and death into the human experience.
Anyone who pays attention to the world today can still feel that brokenness. Violence, injustice, addiction, grief, and guilt all testify that something is not right. The Bible does not deny this reality. Instead, it explains it, and offers hope.
Even in the earliest chapters of Scripture, God made it clear that He would not abandon humanity to sin and death. After Adam and Eve were driven from Eden, God promised that a descendant would one day defeat the serpent, who is the devil (Genesis 3:15; Revelation 12:9). This promise becomes the first hint of what the Bible later calls “the gospel.” Throughout history, God continued to repeat that promise. He would make a way for people to escape brokenness and be reconciled to Him. That promise was fulfilled when God took on flesh in Jesus Christ.
The gospel is not one option among many paths to healing and peace. Scripture insists that Jesus is God’s way of rescue.
“There is salvation in no one else,” the apostles proclaimed (Acts 4:12; John 14:6).
Through Jesus, God provides forgiveness, restoration, and new life.
The gospel begins with a simple but profound truth: the world is broken, but God has moved to save it. The question is not whether the world needs saving. The question is whether we will trust the One God sent to do it.
