Jackson County Judge Jill Sklar has been recognized by the Texas Association of Counties for her leadership and service as Chair of the board of directors of the County Information Resources Agency.
The County Information Resources Agency (CIRA), offered through the Texas Association of Counties, provides technology services and support specifically designed for Texas county governments,” said Sklar. “CIRA helps counties securely manage websites, email, data hosting, and other critical IT functions while staying compliant with state standards. Its goal is to give counties reliable, affordable tools to operate efficiently and protect sensitive information.”
Sklar, who was elected to her office as Jackson County a judge in 2019, served on the board for four years, and her term ends on December 31.
“Being on the CIRA Board has given me a front-row seat to the technology challenges counties face every day, and that perspective directly benefits Jackson County,” said Sklar. “I was able to bring home new ideas, stronger cybersecurity practices, and a clearer understanding of what’s coming next so we can stay ahead instead of just keeping up. Plus, the relationships built with other county leaders and IT professionals make it easier to solve problems, share solutions, and make sure our county’s voice is part of every major decision CIRA makes.”
Sklar expressed gratitude for her time in the role, saying the 2019 cybersecurity attack on the county “helped shape how seriously I take this role.”
“Being part of a team that’s committed to protecting counties and strengthening our technology systems means a great deal to me,” she said. “I truly appreciate the trust placed in me and the chance to give back in a way that helps all Texas communities stay safer and more resilient.”
