The Consequences of Rejection

Jesus ended the Parable of the Minas with a sobering warning: “But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.” (Luke 19:27) Those words make us uncomfortable and they should.

Jesus wasn’t trying to shock for the sake of it. He was telling the truth about the seriousness of rejecting God’s rule. The parable began with citizens saying, “We don’t want this man to reign over us.” It ends with the consequences of that decision.

God’s patience is great, but it is not endless. Judgment is not a popular topic, yet without it, justice would never come.

Sin, evil, violence, and rebellion against God could go on forever unchecked. But the day is coming when Jesus, the righteous Judge, will return to make all things right (Acts 17:30–31; 2 Corinthians 5:10).

The good news is that there is still time to repent. There is still time to turn from sin and submit to the King’s gracious rule. God “is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Every person must choose: Will I follow Jesus now and live under His mercy, or reject Him and face His judgment later?

The King is coming. His offer still stands: forgiveness, peace, and eternal life for all who will bow their hearts to Him. When He returns, will you be ready or still resisting?
