CASA receives donation from Texas Bar

Golden Crescent CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a nonprofit organization that trains and supports community volunteers to serve as trained advocates for children in foster care across the eightcounty region.

Although these children come from our region, limited foster homes often require them to live in placements across Texas, sometimes far from their communities of origin. Despite these distances, our trained advocates remain committed to speaking up for each child’s best interests, ensuring their safety, stability, and well-being throughout the legal process.

Golden Crescent CASA has been awarded $8,000 from the Texas Bar Foundation to reimburse staff and volunteers for the significant mileage they travel both locally and statewide to visit children in their placements. This travel is essential to maintaining high-quality advocacy and ensuring each child receives consistent support from a trained, compassionate advocate.

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably funded bar foundation. “
