Faithful with What We’re Given
Last week we began looking at the Parable of the Minas (Luke 19:11-14). It was about a king who went on a journey and left his servants in charge of his affairs.
When the nobleman in Jesus’ story returned, he called his servants to see what they had done with the money he had entrusted to them (Luke 19:15-26). Two had invested wisely and multiplied what they’d been given.
But one servant hid his mina in a cloth and did nothing with it. The result? He lost even what he had.
The lesson is clear: God expects His people to be faithful and fruitful. Every one of us has been entrusted with something. That might be time, opportunity, influence, relationships, or abilities. The question is not how much we have, but what we do with it.
Following Jesus is not about standing still or merely attending church. It’s about using what God has given us to serve others and to advance His purposes in the world (Matthew 25:14–30).
We can’t all do the same things, but we can all do something.
One day, the King will return and ask what we have done with what He entrusted to us. That moment will reveal whether our faith was genuine or just words. Jesus said, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples” (John 15:8).
You may feel that what you have to offer isn’t much. But God can do extraordinary things with ordinary faithfulness.
Don’t waste your opportunities. Use them.
Serve someone. Share hope. Live for Christ.
The King is coming back. When He does, what will you have to show Him?
