Residents throughout the Golden Crescent region who may be at risk of food insecurity from looming SNAP benefits delays or local provider challenges can find food resource assistance through the Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission’s (GCRPC) various Aging and Community Services Department programs.
GCRPC’s Golden Crescent Area Information Center, can help connect individuals and families throughout the seven-county Golden Crescent region with local food banks, pantries, other food assistance programs, and other food resources.
For anyone unsure of where to turn, a simple phone call to 2-1-1 will connect you to a trained specialist who can provide information and referrals for a wide range of needs, including food, housing, and utility assistance.
The Golden Crescent Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) can also assist in locating food resources and making referrals for older adults, veterans, and people with disabilities of all ages. Residents can dial 2-1-1 at any time for free anonymous assistance from a trained 21-1 specialist. Older adults, veterans, and people with disabilities of all ages can call 361578-1587 ext. 200, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to speak with an ADRC Specialist.
GCRPC is a voluntary association of local governments and special districts serving the Golden Crescent region encompassed by Calhoun, De Witt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, and Victoria counties since 1968.
GCRPC’s Aging and Community Services Department provides consumer benefits, advocacy, and information & referral services to residents of the Golden Crescent through its 2-1 -1, Area Agency on Aging, ADRC, and Ombudsman programs.
