Confessing Christ

“Everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32, ESV).

For many people, “confession” sounds old-fashioned or uncomfortable. But for Jesus, confession was not optional. It was essential. To confess Christ means to openly acknowledge who He is and to declare our loyalty to Him. It’s not a one-time statement at baptism. It’s a lifelong commitment to stand with Jesus wherever we are.

When Jesus walked the earth, people were divided about Him. Some believed, others mocked, and many stayed silent out of fear. That tension still exists today. We may not face persecution, but we face pressure. We face pressure to conform to worldly standards and to stay quiet about Jesus. Yet Jesus said that if we don’t confess Him before others, He will not confess us before the Father (Matt. 10:32-33).

To confess Christ is more than words. It is faith expressed in action. Paul wrote, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9). That confession shows up in how we speak, how we treat others, and how we stand for truth when it’s unpopular.

Every Christian must decide: Will I hide my faith or live it out? Will I follow the crowd or follow Christ? The “good confession” Paul spoke of (1 Tim. 6:12-13) still calls for courage today.

What about you? Have you made the good confession? Are you living it? Jesus is calling you to stand with Him openly and without shame. – Phillip Stuckey – [email protected] ”Come and see.
