On October 3, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to an emergency call about an unresponsive infant.
The sheriff’s department released a media statement regarding the call.
“At Approximately 4:40 pm on October 3, 2025, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call regarding an unresponsive infant at a private residence on County Road 131. The child was under the care of a babysitter at the time.
“First responders arrived on scene and immediately began lifesaving efforts. The infant was transported to Jackson County Hospital District where, despite all efforts, the child was pronounced deceased.
“At this time, the incident is under active investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Texas Rangers, and Medical Examiner’s Office/Child Protective Services. No further details will be released until the investigation is complete.
“We ask the public to respect the privacy of the family during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve the tragic loss of their child.”
