Telferner causes IEW into secure protocol
Industrial Elementary West went into Secure Protocol on the morning of October 3, after a Telferner shooting death had law enforcement searching for a suspect in the area.
The school locked the exterior doors while continuing classes as usual as the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office searched for 41-year-old Seng Savin, of Cambodia, suspected of killing 47-year-old Charminy Lewis of Plano, on Minatre road in Telferner.
“On Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 9:10 a.m. deputies from the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block if Minatre Road,” the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. “Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased female inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.”
School officials instituted safety protocols for student pickup to ensure the safety of the children when school let out.
The suspect was apprehended Friday evening in the 9900 block of Houston Highway.
Seng Savin was found to be also wanted in connection with the 2022 murder of Gabriel Isiguzo in a Las Angeles strip club, according to KTLA.
He was also found to be in the United States illegally.
