On September 8, Ganado police responded to a bank in the 100 block of East York Street following a report of forged checks. An investigation revealed a male and female suspect had each passed a forged check at the bank. Although they entered at different times, the suspects were determined to be acting together.

Through evidence collected at the scene, officers were able to positively identify both individuals. Warrants were issued for their arrests on charges of Forgery of a Financial Instrument, a Third-Degree Felony.

Both suspects remain at large. Further investigation revealed the male suspect also has outstanding warrants in Wharton County for Forgery of a Financial Instrument.

On September 17, Ganado police concluded a two-month investigation into the theft of lottery tickets from a business in the 600 block of South Third Street. The theft was discovered to have been committed by an employee, following an initial report filed in early July. Working in coordination with the Texas Lottery Commission, officers gathered sufficient evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect. The individual is wanted on charges of Claiming a Lottery Prize by Fraud greater than $200 but less than $10,000, a Third-Degree Felony. The suspect remains at large.

On September 23, Ganado police conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of East York Street for an equipment violation. During the stop, the front-seat passenger fled on foot while officers detained the driver. A foot pursuit ensued, and with the assistance of a nearby citizen, the suspect was apprehended approximately a quarter mile from the original stop.

The individual was identified as Mauricio Misael Vega-Garcia, age 26, of Mexico. Vega-Garcia was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of Evading Arrest or Detention, a class A misdemeanor.

On September 23, Ganado police received a report from a female victim who stated she had been assaulted at an RV park in the 1700 block of State Highway 172 South. The victim sustained minor, nonlife- threatening injuries.

Through their investigation, officers identified multiple witnesses as well as a suspect. After obtaining statements, police developed probable cause to believe the suspect was responsible.

A warrant was issued charging the individual with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a class A misdemeanor. The suspect remains at large.

On September 25, Ganado police received a report from a resident who stated they had been the victim of a phone scam. The victim reported losing approximately $750 after being deceived through what appeared to be a fake Facebook account. The scammer led the victim to believe they were purchasing a vehicle, but after payment was sent through a money transfer app, also believed to have been linked to a fraudulent account, the victim never received the vehicle. At this time, no suspect has been identified. (**NOTE** The Ganado Police Department reminds the public not to respond or reply to unknown social media accounts, as they are often associated with scams.)

All suspects have the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
