The Texana Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) met on September 15 at the Farquhar Building, with 11 members and two guests present.
This first meeting of the term was led by Vanessa Harrah, President, who introduced the DRT District Representative, Mary Helen Dunnam, as guest speaker.
Dunnam gave guidance to the group regarding preparations for the DRT District meeting that Texana Chapter will be hosting in September 2026, with an expected 100 members from surrounding Chapters.
DRT is comprised of women whose ancestors lived and served in Texas prior to statehood in the US. The focus of the organization is on honoring and preserving the rich heritage of our Texas history.
The Texana Chapter welcomes those who are interested in participating and joining as Associate Members as well as those who meet the qualifications for full membership. The next Chapter meeting will be on October 13, 10:30 a.m., in the Texana Room of the Farquhar Building in Edna. For further information text Jean Shores at 512750-8903.
