Gators, crocodiles, lizards, and more…oh my!
The Texana Community Education Center is proudly hosting their first annual Texana Gator Day at the center on Saturday, September 27.
“This is a day dedicated to crocodilians,” Michael Price said. “We’ll have a Chinese alligator, an albino alligator, all white, a nile crocodile, and several education booths, like Lumpy Lizard Rescue.”
Live shows will include speakers from Texas Parks & Wildlife, starting at 11 a.m., and Crocodile Encounters, beginning at 1 p.m., which Price said is an Angleton man who will be talk about conservation and research they’re doing there with crocodiles from all around the world.
Other partner exhibits include Janik Alligator Farms, Texas Master Naturalists, Mid-Coast Birding Festival, Apex Animal Educators, Texas Sea Grant, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Victoria Gators, Jackson County Master Gardeners, and Formosa Plastics.
“I’m really excited to be bringing information about our rescue and what we do, as well as some of our ambassadors animals, like Krampus the Iguana, and a few other reptiles,” Jessica Coleman said of Lumpy Lizards Rescue. “We serve a large are and are running all over South Texas a lot, so I’m pumped to be doing an event right here for our Jackson County people.”
Photo opportunities will be available, plus animal feedings, face painting, a craft tent, and food concessions.
The Texana Community Education Center is located on 344 Park Road 2 in Edna. The cost is a $5 vehicle fee for non-registered campers.
