On Tuesday, September 2, Edna Police officers were dispatched to a vehicle stopped at the railroad tracks, southbound on Wells St. A deputy already on scene advised that he had observed two people asleep in the vehicle with three minor children asleep in the back seat.
The driver was identified as Eduardo Ramos, 31, of Palacios. The passenger was identified as Julia Aparicio, 23. Officers conducted a field sobriety test, which Ramos failed, and subsequently arrested him for Driving While Intoxicated with Minor Passengers. Both Ramos and Aparicio had active warrants out of Matagorda County. Ramos had warrants for Assault Causing Bodily Injury, No Driver’s License, and Delivery of Drug Paraphernalia.
Aparicio had one warrant for Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Both were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
On Thursday, August 28, officers were dispatched to 815 Carver St, for a report of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. They made contact with the victim, who advised that their sister, Gelissa Michelle Dilworth, 37, had threatened them with a black handled steak knife, and that during the altercation, she had displayed the steak knife in a threatening manner. Gelissa Dilworth was still at the scene, and after listening to both sides, Gelissa Dilworth was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On Wednesday, August 27, Dispatch received a call from the driver of a Dodge Charger, stating that they were being followed by a gray Chevrolet Camaro. Dispatch instructed the caller to drive in front of the Sheriff’s Office. Officers observed both vehicles and initiated a traffic stop. Officers discovered that the driver of the Camaro had intentionally rammed the victim’s vehicle, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the Camaro, identified as Dafne Ramirez Compean, 18, of Victoria, was arrested for reckless driving. After conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers found a nicotine vape in the trunk, two THC vapes, and a plastic jar containing a small baggie of marijuana found in the spare tire area. Compean was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2 in addition to Reckless Driving.
On Monday, August 25, Officers on routine patrol in the area of East Cedar at North Kleas observed a Gray 2006 Mazda fail to stop at a stop sign. Officers initiated a traffic stop, and identified the driver as Misty Dawn Stovall, 45.
It was determined that Stovall did not have a valid driver’s license. Dispatch confirmed that Stovall’s driver license was suspended, and that Stovall had two prior convictions for Driving While License Invalid. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search. During the search, they discovered a partially burned marijuana cigarette in the center console by the ashtray.
Stovall was also found to be concealing a small joint in her bra. Stovall was arrested for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions, and Possession of Marijuana.
On Monday, August 25, an officer observed a vehicle operated by Miguel Angel Ocampo, 39, of Victoria, Officers had prior knowledge that Ocampo did not possess a valid driver’s license, as he was recently stopped and issued a citation for such. Ocampo was arrested for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.
On Saturday, August 23, officers were dispatched to investigate an intoxicated subject operating a green Chevy pickup near West Ash St. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a stop. The pickup was operated by Heather Nicole Hahn, 37, of Edna. Hahn failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with Blood Alcohol Content over .15.
