The tickets are already sold out for the Murder at the Manor, hosted by the Texana Education Center, and the participants are in for a fun night, Shelby Scarborough said.
The story: guests have been invited to the Manor for the reading of a will, from dear friend and family member, Mr. R. His passing is suspicious, but before the will can be read, another murder happens!
Expect red herrings, humor, twists, laughs and truth uncovered.
Everyone’s a suspect on Saturday, September 6, where party-goers can volunteer to be a character or a detective. Scarborough said the guests who want to act get to dress in a costume, receive a script, and act it out, either wonderfully or wonderfully horrible.
“We have some introverts who don’t want to do anything, so they know they’re a detective. Then
see Murder at the Manor on page A3 we have people who hope they get chosen to act,” Scarborough said.
Anyone wanting to be a character must be at least 16 years old. The “detectives” will dig deep to solve the crime by meeting suspects, uncovering evidence and interrogating witnesses.
“It’s sort of like a reallife Clue,” Scarborough said. “I had a friend who did it a couple of years back at the Bomb Diggity, and I thought it was a great idea. The people who do it come out of Rosenburg, and they bring all the props and supplies.”
The guests will enjoy a meal, a loaded baked potato bar, catered by local Cicadas. Not only that, Rusty Hook Winery out of Seadrift will be onsite to sell alcoholic beverages.
The evening begins at 6 p.m.
“It’s very laid-back, it’s not super fancy, it’s just a great night out in our small town and have something to do,” Scarborough said.
