The Victoria County Public Health Department Environmental Health Division inspects places where food is served in Jackson County.

In the inspection reports, each violation in the Priority items 1-20 is 3 demerits, Priority Foundation items 21-33 are 2 demerits and Core items are 1 demerit.

Zero is a perfect score, while 100 demerits is the worst possible score.

Food service inspections for the week ending August 21: Estella’s Mexican Restaurant, 109 S. Third Street, Ganado. Demerits: 28. Cold hold not in compliance,raw food stored over RTE foods, label all chemical bottles, need CFM, no bodily fluid kit, need food handlers, date label, need test strips, need thermometers in coolers, clean shelves in walk-in, not performing three process dishwashing, seal all windows, clean grease on walls, paint peeling from walls, replace/ install ceiling tiles, post last inspection.

Conner’s Corner Grocery, 102 E. Houston Hwy, Edna. Demerits: 14. Hot hold not in compliance, expired food, no hot water at hand wash sink, deli products need use by date, date mark food stored in cooler, need signage at hand wash sink.

Edna Seafood & Grill, 1022 S. Wells, Edna. Demerits: 2. 3 Potrillos Mexican Restaurant, 114 E. Main, Edna; Edna Elementary, 400 Apollo Drive, Edna; Edna High School Café, 1303 W.

Gayle, Edna; Edna Junior High School, 505 W. Gayle, Edna; Ganado Independent School District Cafeteria, 510 W. Rogers, Ganado; Industrial Elementary West, 599 FM 444 S., Inez. Demerits: 0.

Follow up Inspection Conner’s Corner Grocery, 102 E. Houston Hwy, Edna. Demerits: 0.
