Driver charged with Manslaughter

Kalicia Katrice Walker, 20, of San Antonio was charged with Manslaughter, following an accident which resulted in a death.

On Saturday,March 8, 2025, at approximately 3:29 p.m., Texas DPS troopers responded to a multiple vehicle fatal crash on US HWY 59 in Jackson County, TX involving a gray Toyota Camry, gray Chevrolet HHR, and a white Ford Econoline van hauling a small homemade trailer.

A statement from Texas DPS explained the details of the accident.

“The gray Camry was traveling southwest on US HWY 59 in the inside lane just ahead of the white Econoline and trailer that was traveling the same direction in the outside lane,” The statement reads. “The Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed and while changing lanes when unsafe it struck the front right of the gray HHR with its back causing the HHR to spin out and enter the center median. The Camry then struck the back left of the trailer that was being hauled by the Econoline causing both units to lose control, jackknife, and the trailer to detach from the Econoline. The Econoline then began to rollover.”

Walker and a passenger were transported to a Victoria medical facility and the driver of the gray Chevrolet HHR was not injured.

“The driver of the white Ford Econoline van, male, 58, was transported to the local hospital in Jackson County with injuries,” the statement continued. “The front passenger, Maria Paredes, 54, was ejected and died as a result. The second seat passenger, male, 67, was ejected, sustained serious injuries and was air flighted to Memorial Herman in Houston. The third seat passenger, male, 51, was also transported to the local hospital with injuries.

An arrest warrant out of Jackson County was issued for Kalicia Walker for Manslaughter and three counts of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

“On June 19, Walker was arrested and booked in Bexar County Jail. She was transported and is currently at Jackson County Jail.

“No additional information is available for release at this time,” the statement concluded. “A copy of the crash report can be obtained once the investigation is completed. CRIS Purchase (state. tx.us)”
