People from Jackson County and beyond gathered in La Salle at The Shack Bar and Grill on Saturday, June 28 for Shack Fest, a festival fundraiser to help defray the legal fees and costs for owners Kim and Willie Chandler.
On May 6, the Chandlers were arrested and accused of illegal gambling in relation to a popular Queen of Hearts game held at the establishment over the last year. The situation sparked controversy throughout Jackson County, with many expressing support for The Shack and its owners.
Shack Fest included hot dog eating and beer chugging contests, dunk station, cornhole and other games, as well as a silent auction.
A DJ and multiple bands played the event, including DJ El Paisano Sounds, The Double Barrel Band, Purely Unfiltered, and The Eric G Band. The Pulpit Ramblers headlined and closed out the evening.
