'Boys Find a Lead

“That was my first home run since little league,” Cowboy Reese Orsak said.

After the game ended, Orsak had a huge smile on his face. Edna had just defeated their rival Cobras 6-1 on April 3, and the Junior did most of the work, driving in five. Orsak’s three run homer came in the bottom of the sixth when the Cowboys were holding a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the first, Lane Grymes singled but got picked off first base. The Cowboys started a rundown but the ball got thrown into left field and Grymes came all the way around to score the first run of the game. Unfortunately for the Cobras, it was the only run they were able to put up in the game.

In the second inning, Cowboys starting pitcher Dylan Yaws worked around an error and a balk to strike out the side. Daniel Gonzales, the Cobra starting pitcher, matched Yaws in the top of the third. Cowboy John Reyes reached base on an error and stole second, but Gonzales struck out the next three Cowboys and the game moved to the bottom of the third with the Cobras holding a 1-0 lead.
