Michael Dworaczyk

Michael John Dworaczyk, 89, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 in Victoria. He was born on June 26, 1928 in Falls City, Texas. Mike was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado.     “Uncle Mike” as he was known by his family and friends, was an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt as well as watch as much baseball as he could fit into his schedule. He was thrilled to be able to watch the Astros win the World Series.     Mike grew up in Atascosa and McMullen counties and liked to tell stories of his hunts in those pastures there. He still loved to hunt on family land along the Lipan Creek in Atascosa County, where he bagged many fine whitetail bucks. For most of his latter years, he lived on a beautiful farm near Ganado, which gave him access to many prime fishing spots. One of his favorite activities was catching fish with his buddies for his annual birthday “fish fry” at a family reservoir known as “The Bottom.”     Uncle Mike served is country in The United States Navy. He and his brother Alfred were both veterans of the Korean War. Mike worked many years in road and bridge construction with his brother Edward. One of his “prize” projects was the Highway 281 Bridge at Campbellton, Texas over the Atascosa River built in 1951-1952 and is still in use today.     Uncle Mike married a wonderful lady, Louise Hahn, in Ganado in 1972. Mike and Louise lived together on her family’s farm for many years and enjoyed raising beautiful crops in the fertile soil. Mike especially liked farming rice and having a vegetable garden. Mike loved eating pickled beets and okra as well as fresh produce. Mike loved playing dominoes with the locals in the area and made many friends with their shared past time. Uncle Mike was always a joyful man, he looked forward to the family reunions and visiting with all the relatives, especially the little ones. He loved taking his family out to restaurants to enjoy a big meal with a sweet dessert. We always looked forward to his visits. He was a loving man who cared a lot for his family and friends.     Mike is survived by his brother, Edward Dworaczyk and his wife Sandra of Milano, Texas; his daughter-in-law Gloria Hahn; and his great-grandson Corbin Gutierrez of Ganado; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families; his very special care giver Joyce Jenkins and George Kyttle, his niece Lisa Cano and her husband Jeff of Victoria; and his many friends in the Ganado and Victoria area that he considered his extended family.     Mike is preceded in death by his father T.J.
