Marilyn Pennington

Marilyn Lindsey Pennington, of Ganado passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018, at the age of 72. She was born in Catskill, New York on October 16, 1945, to the late Wesley Riley Butts and Elaine Taylor Butts.     Marilyn was a retired Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, a retired LVN and a cosmetologist who took pride in taking care of and putting others first. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend.     Marilyn is survived by her loving daughter, Joylynn Lindsey Shay, (Ted Walden);  grandson, Charles Wayne Demmer, granddaughters, Ashley DiAnne Ferguson and Kellie Erin Junek and husband Marshal; seven great-grandchildren Colton Wayne Demmer, Caiton Joi Ferguson, Cash Zayne Ferguson, Averie Southern Junek, Cyleigh Willa Demmer, Camille Nicole Smith, Rylee Dawn Smith; sisters, Wendy Lee Olin, Karen Bickerton, Joan Hamilton; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.     In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Benjamin J. Pennington.     Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a memorial service to begin at 10:30 a.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel.     Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. 361-782-2221.
