County has burn ban in effect

By Michael Brooks

Staff Writer

The same day Jackson County commissioners issued a burn ban for the county, it rained. It rained again the following day in a small section of the county, but not enough to lift the ban. There is rain in the forecast for the end of the week, but it will take a lot of rain to lift the burn ban.

“The burn ban will be in effect until we get some significant rainfall,” Jackson County Commissioner Johnny Belicek said. “We have to make sure we are looking out for our firemen and officers. We have to wait for the KBI Index to get below 500.”
