Toribio "Toby" Martinez, Jr.

Toribio “Toby” Martinez, Jr., age 47, of Victoria, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010. He was born June 17, 1963, in San Marcos, to Toribio, Sr. and Debbie Aguirre Martinez of Edna.
Toby is survived by his parents; spouse, Frances Soto of Victoria; daughter, Gracie Martinez of Victoria; son, Toby Ray Martinez, III of Edna; step-children, Robyn Helton, Fernando Valdez, Ashley Valdez and Amber Valdez; sister, Angie Martinez (James Soto) of Edna; brother Ruben (Lillian) Martinez of Edna; grandchildren, Guadalupe “Peta” Zamora and Juan Carlos Rayes, III; step-grandchildren, Madyson Helton, Brandyn Helton and Bailey Jade Valdez; and nieces, Gabby and Olivia Martinez.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, with a Rosary recital at 6 p.m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Monday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Inez. Rev. Michael Petering will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Rodriguez, Danny Padierna, Antonio Aguirre, Jr., William Aguirre, John Perez and Lawrence Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are James Soto and Uncle Bob Briffet.

William L. Ponton

  William Lance Ponton, 20, of Victoria passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010. He was born Dec. 26, 1989, in Cuero, to Joseph Ponton and Michelle Brand Martinez. He was employed in the housing construction industry.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Michelle and Mark Martinez of Victoria; his father, Joseph Ponton of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Dustin Ponton, Michael Ponton and Dallas Ponton, all of Victoria; grandparents, Dale James of Edna, Robert Brand Sr. of Rockport, Bryan and Patsy Ponton of Rockport, and Raymond and Sheila Martinez of Victoria; great-grandmother, Mildred Ponton of Inez; great-grandparents, Murray and Maria Bailey of Victoria; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, the Rev. Jack Bourland officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Floyds Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nick Cuevas, Robert Brand Jr., Ryan Ponton, Michael Ponton, Dustin Ponton, Dallas Ponton, Michael Cisneros, and Joseph Ortiz.

Manuel Zambrano, Jr.

Manuel Zambrano, Jr., age 57, of Edna passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010. He was born April 27, 1953, in Ganado, to Martina Garcia Zambrano of Edna, and the late Manuel Zambrano, Sr.
Manuel is survived by his mother; daughters, Martie Zambrano Torres and husband Carlos, Jr. of Pasadena, Lucinda Hernandez and husband Sergio of Edna, and Pamita Hernandez of Corpus Christi; sons, Christopher Zambrano, Sr. and Carlos Anthony Zambrano, Sr. both of Edna, and Alfredo Roberto Zambrano, Sr. and wife Keisha of North Carolina; sisters, Martha Villela (Ambrose), Elvira Rodriquez (Jose), and Mary Lou Zambrano, all of Edna, Margaret Wright (Ray) of Ganado, and Sylvia Sanchez and Ophelia Willman (Steve) both of Victoria; brothers, Frank Zambrano (Norma) and Robert Zambrano (Tish) all of Edna; and great grandchildren, Cassandra Lopez and Julius Dilworth both of Edna. Manuel is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 7 other great grandchildren; and aunts, Louisa Siller of Edna, and Cecilia Garcia of Victoria.
Manuel is preceded in death by his father; wife, Margarita Guevara Zambrano; sister, Gloria Manzanalez; and brother, Richard Zambrano.
The memorial service and rosary will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 31 at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. Deacon Margarito Cervantes will be officiating.
Military honors will be conducted under the auspice of the American Legion Post 346, Ganado.

Linda Kaye Strnadel

Linda Kaye Strnadel, 53, of Edna, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was born July 19, 1957 in San Marcos to Donald and Millie Faye Kratzer. She was a data analyst with Dow Chemical and later with Invista. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral where she was involved with A.C.T.S.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Strnadel of Edna; daughter, LaTisha De La Garza of Victoria; son, Chase De La Garza of Victoria; sister, Diana Hamilton of Winnie; and brothers, Donald Kratzer of Victoria and Ronald Kratzer of New Orleans, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father, Glenn Dearsan.
Visitation was from 5 until 9 p.m. July 26 at Colonial Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. July 27 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Monsignor Michael Harrold officiating. Interment followed at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Hillje.
Memorials in memory of Linda may be made to Our Lady of Victory Women's A.C.T.S.

Dana Elaine Maeke

Dana Elaine Maeker, 31, of Edna, passed away on July 18, 2010. She was born December 2, 1978 in Houston.
She is survived by her mother and step-father Diane and Richard Williams of Edna, father and step-mother Keith and Connie Maeker of Sugar Land; sister Michelle Robertson of El Campo; nieces Ashley, Shelby and Heather Rooker all of El Campo; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was held on July 20 with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on July 21, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Hillje with Rev. Clement Quainno officiating.
Pallbearers were Danny Williams, Christopher Williams, Ashley Rooker, Shelby Rooker, Heather Rooker and Joe Lewis. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Williams and Stephen Casinger
Memorial donations in memory of Dana Maeker may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Margaret Marie Alderson Drewry

Margaret Marie Alderson Drewry, 86, of Ganado, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010. She was born April 21, 1924 in Mount Calm to the late Aaron G. Alderson and Cornelia Graves Alderson. She was the youngest of 13 children. She was a homemaker and a caregiver.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Evelyn Tise (Darrell) of Ganado, Beverly Carol Drewry of Ganado, and Debera Lee Rod (Michael) of Brenham; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd R. Drewry; and all of her sisters and brothers.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Ganado Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Ganado Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Ganado Cemetery. Officiating ministers will be Howard Middleton and Michael Rod.
Pallbearers will be Jay Paul Konarik, James Rod, John Breithaupt, Henry Anderson, Randy Tarver, Bill Stroman, Joshua Breithaupt, and Russell Konarik. Honorary pallbearers are Kristi Konarik Breithaupt, Jennifer Rod Durickovic, Michele Tise Svoboda, Elizabeth Tise, Tara Tise Brezina, Nora Rod Gonzales, Al and Verna Tarver.
