The price has been paid

This letter is in reference to the Stage II LNRA project. I, along with many other county residents, strongly oppose this project.
After attending the LNRA board meeting on July 21 and hearing the updates on the feasibility study I think it is evident that this will be a costly project with little water capacity as a result.
For the on-channel option, which would be a dam and a lake, the lake would be smaller than Lake Texana. This would destroy a lot of families, their homes and land for a small lake.
I think everyone knows that the idea of more recreation and lake-front property is never going to develop in a way that will benefit this county.
The off-channel project, which would be a reservoir constructed off of the river and water would be pumped into it from the river, will be very costly also.
It would make my heart jump if LNRA would notify us that they are putting an end to this useless project. Then maybe the many folks along the river could sleep at night, not fearing losing their homes and land.
I would like to note that my land is safe from this project as it stands now, but I have family and friends whose homes and land is not safe. That is as serious to me as my own land.
Board members, I ask you to take serious consideration as to whether is is worth taking citizen’s homes and land and spending this amount of money for such a small water capacity. I think the citizens have already paid the price for Lake Texana.
