In a split vote, Jackson County Hospital District Directors voted to begin advertising for an EMS director who would be responsible for starting up a partial-county EMS service. The board met for its monthly meeting on July 22.
The vote was five for and two against the motion, with Rodney Roberson, Nils Mauritz, Cynthia Bozarth, Jimmy Lopez and Elida Benavides voting aye and Willard Ulbricht and Jerry Adelman voting nay. Both Ulbricht and Adelman felt it was too soon to advertise for a director. John Cotten, vice president, conducted the meeting in the absence of President Jim Moser.
