Nursing home administrator's career goes full circle

Judy Liberda has come home. After working in the senior care industry outside Jackson County for 25 years, the petite, white-haired lady has returned to her hometown to serve the final leg of her career as administrator at the Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born and raised in Ganado, Liberda was the first administrator at the former Care Inn of Ganado when it opened in 1971, which until it was demolished just a month ago, was adjacent to her current facility. She and her husband, Carroll, continued to live in Ganado after her career took her to a nursing and rehabilitation center in Victoria where she met Mike Burris, owner of TAG Management. It was a professional relationship that she carried forward through the years and has continued with his sons today.
“I went to work for TAG Management corporate from 1995 until 2006 as a quality assurance nurse for all of their nursing homes,” she said. “I then was administrator at their nursing home in Moulton up until this past December – right before they took over the old Ganado Nursing Home..."
