TGCD meets to discuss goals

The Texana Groundwater Conservation District received a $1,500 donation from the Jackson County Soil and Water Conservation District that will pay for the director’s insurance, Michael Skalicky, president, reported at the July 15 meeting.
Rima Petrossian with the Texas Water Board was at the meeting to consult with the directors on their management plan and rules.
Petrossian told the board that Texas Commission on Environmental Quality or the state auditor’s office could dissolve the district if they found the TGCD was not in compliance with its management plan. She cautioned them to be conservative when stating goals.
“You don’t have enough money to do anything just now,” she said. “Your only resources are your minds and your bodies. Make sure you don’t adopt a plan you can’t afford.”...
