In the moment: Josh Labay takes it as it comes

The first impression most people had of Ganado junior Josh Labay this past year was on the football field, as the “skinny kid” took the hand-off and disappeared into the shoving, grunting pile of the line, then suddenly reappeared on the other side, seemingly without breaking stride.
“Last year, coach said I had pretty good [field] vision,” Labay said. “It’s just what I have. In practice, I couldn’t see the holes when I wasn’t in, but I could see them when I was in.”
The youngest of Mike and Cathy Labay was a double honorable mention All-State selection at runningback and free safety.
“It’s kinda crazy, when I first heard about it I was shocked,” Josh admitted. “I really wasn’t expecting anything that big. It kinda took my breath away. My brother [Seth] called and told me about it, so I looked on the internet and there it was. It shocked me more than anything.”
Josh has committed himself to summer workouts this year as he hopes to draw a little bit of scouting attention. He has already earned a little extra attention, being named one of 1A’s players to watch in the “Texas Football” annual Fall preview edition...
